Lamborghini vs Ferrari: Which market is winning the supercar price race?

The world of exotic cars is always evolving, and lately, Lamborghini prices have been making headlines. In fact, some models are now rivaling Ferrari in terms of market performance. But is Lamborghini truly outpacing Ferrari, or are we witnessing a temporary surge? Let’s dive into the numbers and find out.

Gallardo

Lamborghini Gallardo

We’ll start with Lamborghini’s older Gallardo models.

  • Base models: Prices dropped by 5.2% compared to August 2024, putting the median at around €97,000.

  • Superleggera: The market here is volatile, with limited supply. Current asking prices hover around €143,000, about 20% higher than last year. However, auction results suggest a more modest increase, closer to €145,000, so that 20% spike may be misleading.

For the LP560, prices held steady, with only a slight 0.8% gain. Bargains around €110,000 are increasingly rare today. Meanwhile, the LP570 market is too small to provide reliable data.

Huracán

Lamborghini Huracán

The Huracán market is far more active, making trends clearer:

  • LP580-2 and LP610-4: Essentially flat, with changes of –0.1% and +0.2% respectively. Median prices remain stable.

  • EVO and EVO RWD: Prices dipped only slightly (–0.2% and –0.4%), but recent strengthening shows resilience.

This stability means Huracán owners enjoy low total ownership costs—cars are holding value, while depreciation barely registers.

Special mention goes to the Technica, Sterrato, STO, and Performante:

  • STO: Bounced back after sharp 2023 declines, now up 2.9% at €358,000–€368,000.

  • Technica: Down 1.5% year-over-year, with a median price around €294,000.

  • Sterrato: The weakest performer, falling 10% in 2024 but now showing signs of stabilizing.

  • Performante: Essentially flat, with only a 1% (statistically insignificant) uptick.

Aventador

Lamborghini Aventador

The Aventador market shows some of Lamborghini’s strongest performance:

  • Base model: Up 3.9%, a confirmed increase.

  • Aventador S: Slightly weaker at +2.8%, though this rise isn’t statistically confirmed.

  • SV and SVJ: Both posted impressive growth, between 5.4% and 7.9%. Roadsters, as usual, command a premium.

  • Ultimae: The outlier, with an apparent 7–9% drop. However, this decline is skewed by higher-mileage cars entering the market. Adjusted figures suggest a modest –2.2%.

Urus

Lamborghini Urus

Unlike its mid-engine siblings, the Urus follows a different path. After holding steady during the pandemic, prices began to decline:

  • Base model: Down 8.8%.

  • S variant: Down 8.6%.

  • Performante: Down 7.6%.

While depreciation slowed compared to the sharp 11–16% drops in 2024, the Urus still underperformed relative to the wider Lamborghini market.

Lamborghini vs Ferrari

Now to the big question: is Lamborghini outperforming Ferrari?

  • Gallardo vs Ferrari F430: The Gallardo fell 5.2%, while the F430 lost only 1.3%. Ferrari wins this round.

  • LP560 vs Ferrari 458: Lamborghini was flat (+0.8%), but the 458 rose 3.6%. Again, Ferrari edges ahead.

  • Huracán LP580/610 vs Ferrari 488/F8: Here, Lamborghini shines. Huracáns stayed flat, while the F8 dropped 3.7%. Adjusting for late 2024 data, the Ferrari market has since rebounded, making this comparison a draw.

  • Technica vs Ferrari F8: Both depreciated slightly (–1.5% vs –2.9%), making this another tie.

  • Aventador vs Ferrari 488/F8: Aventadors clearly performed better, showing growth where Ferrari stayed flat or declined.

The exception? Ferrari’s 488 Pista, which saw a massive price surge, outpacing even Lamborghini’s best performers.

Conclusion

So, who’s winning the battle?

Overall, Lamborghini did better than the general exotic car market, which fell on average by 2.4%. Most Lamborghinis lost only 0.4%, with the Aventador range showing the strongest appreciation. Ferrari, however, continues to dominate in older mid-engine models like the F430 and 458.

In short:

  • Ferrari holds the upper hand in legacy models.

  • Lamborghini stands strong with Aventadors and maintains stability across most Huracáns.

  • Both brands deliver top-tier performance, and the differences are small enough that passion, not percentages, should guide your choice.
