Mercedes 500 SL R129 1989 94.000 km 32800 EUR from Germany
It debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in 1989 and marked a huge step forward in both technology and design. What fascinated most was its silhouette. Unlike its predecessor, it was no longer just a boulevard cruiser for slow parades—it became a true-blooded sports car, equipped with large engines that allowed it to truly spread its wings on the highway. It was the first model to feature an electro-hydraulically operated soft top, while also retaining a manually installed hardtop for convenient use during colder months. The model remained in production for over a decade, but today the most iconic version is considered to be the first edition—with amber turn signals and contrasting-colored side moldings and bumpers. That’s exactly the kind of Mercedes-Benz 500 SL being offered in this listing. What makes it stand out is its original European origin and its very low mileage—currently just under 95,000 km.

Very rarely do you see such low mileage on European-spec cars: 94,800 km.
I’m selling a unique example of the SL 500 from the early production years—1989, in the original European version, with the iconic two-tone paint characteristic of the late ’80s and early ’90s.
This car has soul and history—it was purchased in Germany, where it was kept in a garage for over 20 years after the owners passed away. It was inherited by their daughter, who lives in the USA. The car still has original receipts from the ’90s and period gadgets—it’s like a real time capsule.
Key features:
– Engine: 5.0 V8 – runs perfectly: dry, quiet, no leaks
– Paint: original, in perfect condition, protected with a quartz coating
– Color scheme: classic two-tone paint—distinctive of early R129 models
– Interior: original, very well-preserved
This is not a random flip car. I’m a classic car enthusiast—this is my personal car, bought because it looks almost exactly like my first SL (that one came from Japan). I intended to keep this one in my collection, but life writes its own stories.
Additionally, my business partner and I run a company that originally started by producing parts specifically for the R129 model—I know these cars well and know how they should look.
Since this car was meant to be the flagship of our brand – Octoclassic – I decided to install period-correct Lorinser wheels. For me, it’s like a businessman wearing an Omega watch. My first SL had AMG wheels—like a “Rolex” among rims 🙂
Additional highlights:
– All plastic parts, mirrors, covers, trim – in perfect condition
– Soft, matte leather seats – very well preserved
– Original soft top with Mercedes windows
– Lorinser wheels with new Continental tires
– Original black window trims (not faded like sun-exposed examples)
– Version with onboard computer
– Original amber turn signal lights
– Steering wheel in original condition – texture excellently preserved
– Wind deflector, MB tool set, and fire extinguisher
– Original Becker radio
The price reflects the condition of the vehicle and is aligned with the Polish market. So if you’re from Western Europe, thanks to the Octoclassic website, you have the opportunity to purchase the car at a lower price—with a guarantee and Octoclassic quality.
The car is intentionally not registered; documents include the German brief.
The license plates mounted on the car are collector’s plates (not real).
If you’re looking for a car with history, in collectible condition, that needs no investment and has soul—this is your chance to become its owner.
